But, the real essence of fitness is much more than just strength, endurance and speed. It's your ability to approach peak performance function at the cellular level. This includes vital cardiac output and recovery, oxygen exchange to your muscles and organs and unrestricted blood flow down to even the smallest capillaries. Your fitness level dictates how well you function as a human being. The bottom line is that your fitness determines your overall to perform the tasks of life. | ||||||||
So, how "fit" are you? You'll probably agree that most of us gauge our level of fitness in a rather subjective way. That is, we think we know how fit we are based on how we feel rather than a measure of physiological performance. Some of us may actually have a bench mark such as how fast or far we can run or how much weight we can lift, That is definitely a step in the right direction but still, these measures do not evaluate the real basis of fitness - how well all of your physiological systems work together to produce those levels of speed, distance and strength.
